Bayview Enforcement Action 8/5/16 – 8/11/16

Robbery – Egbert / 3rd – 8/5/16, 11:40 am

A tow truck driver had just hooked up a vehicle that he was re-possessing when the owner approached him and asked if she could remove some items from the car. He obliged and continued with his job after she was finished. He drove the car a few blocks where he stopped to get out and make sure it was secured properly. A vehicle pulled up beside him and a suspect got out yelling at the victim about “disrespecting” his mother. The suspect punched the victim several times and stole the keys to his tow truck before getting back into his vehicle and driving off. This incident is under investigation.  Firearm Arrest – Evans / Quint – 8/5/16, 1:25 pm

Officers investigating a battery that occurred on a MUNI bus went in search of the suspect and located him along with another suspect several blocks away. The second suspect was seen holding a handgun which he dropped when the officers approached. He was taken into custody. Methamphetamine was found in his possession and the loaded 9mm handgun that he had discarded was retrieved. The suspect, a parolee, was booked on weapons, narcotics, and parole violation charges.  Firearm Arrest – Ingalls / Van Dyke – 8/5/16, 2:30 pm

Officers patrolling in the area spotted a car stopped near the sidewalk. They recognized the driver from previous contacts and knew him to be on active parole with a search condition. They detained the subject to conduct a probation investigation and on searching his vehicle, discovered the loaded .45 caliber pistol under the driver’s seat along with a baggie of methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested on weapons, narcotics, and parole violation charges.  (SFPD Case No. 160631173)


 Firearm Arrest – unit block Whitfield – 8/5/16, 7:10 pm

Officers spotted a subject, who had an arrest history involving firearms, getting out of the vehicle he had just parked. The officers knew that the suspect had a suspended driver’s license and was on probation with a search condition. They approached the suspect who immediately became defensive and refused to let the officers search his car, despite the fact that there was a visible controlled substance in the center console. He attempted to run away but was unsuccessful. He was detained and the search of the vehicle revealed a loaded 9mm semi automatic pistol in the glove box. The suspect was arrested and booked on weapons and narcotics charges. (SFPD Case No. 160631963)


 Auto Theft Arrest – Newcomb / 3rd – 8/5/16, 7:40 pm

Officers had their attention drawn to an idling double parked vehicle with two occupants. A check of the license plate revealed that the vehicle had been reported as stolen. The driver was taken into custody without incident and booked on auto theft charges. (SFPD Case No. 160629413)


 Shots Fired – 2900 block Hawes – 8/6/16, 12:30 am

Officers patrolling in the area of Thomas and Ingalls heard gunshots in the area and responded to the location. They located multiple spent rounds in the street at Hawes and Ingerson. They located a residence that had an out wall damaged by gunfire and conducted a well being check on the residents. Nobody inside the home had been injured though the bullets had entered the residence. This incident is under investigation.  (SFPD Case No. 160632682)


 Robbery – LaSalle / Newhall – 8/6/16, 2:00 am

A 35 year old victim was walking home when a suspect pulled up to her in a car and shouted that she “wasn’t supposed to be here” and that she didn’t belong in this neighborhood. The suspect then got out of the car and attacked the victim. She punched her in the face multiple times and shoved her to the ground where she proceeded to rip the victim’s purse from her body. The suspect stole money from the victim’s wallet before getting back into the car and fleeing. The victim was treated for her injuries at St. Luke’s Hospital. This incident is under investigation.  Robbery – San Bruno / Felton – 8/6/16, 5:10 pm

A 23 year old victim was riding a MUNI bus when she got up to get off at her stop. As she stepped off the bus, a suspect ran up to her and grabbed her backpack. The victim and suspect briefly struggled over the bag but the suspect was able to retain it and fled on foot. This incident is under investigation. (SFPD Case No. 160634224)


Firearm Arrest – 1100 block Sunnydale – 8/7/16, 8:30 pm

Officers conducting an investigation in the area spotted a subject that they recognized from a previous burglary conviction and knew to have an active search condition as a result of his probation. The suspect had walked into his residence and the officers contacted him and conducted a probation search. A loaded 9mm handgun was recovered from the home. The suspect was arrested and booked on weapons and probation violation charges. (SFPD Case No. 160637325)


 Shots Fired – Hudson / Whitney Young – 8/10/16, 5:10 pm

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at Youngblood-Coleman playground. They met with a victim who stated she had been outside with her two grandchildren when several shots rang out. She quickly brought the kids into the house where she found that the 5 year olds hand had possibly been grazed in the gunfire. The officers observed that the child was upset and crying and had some swelling to her hand, but that the skin did not appear to be broken. She was treated for her injury at UCSF. The officers obtained witness statements, secured the scene, and preserved all evidence. No other injuries were reported as a result of this incident which is under investigation. Burglary Arrest – 800 block Indiana – 8/11/16, 5:18 am

Officers responded to a call of a burglar attempting to gain entry into a residence through a rear patio. The victim had awoken to a noise that alerted him to the rear of his apartment and was alarmed to see the suspect inside the gated patio area. The officers arrived within minutes and located the suspect, who was still on the victim’s patio. The metal door to the patio had been damaged and the suspect had burglary tools in his possession. He was taken into custody and booked on attempted hot prowl burglary and possession of burglary tools charges. (SFPD Case No. 160646796)


 Robbery – 1000 block Le Conte – 8/11/16, 6:20 pm

A 34 year old victim was walking home when a suspect approached her and grabbed her purse. The victim fell to her knees and held on to the bag as the suspect dragged her as he attempted to run away with it. When she still did not let go, the suspect punched her multiple times until she relinquished the bag. He fled on foot. The victim was treated for her injuries at St. Luke’s Hospital. This incident is under investigation. (SFPD Case No. 160648673)


 Armed Robbery – 600 block Woolsey – 8/12/16, 10:40 pm

A 55 year old victim was sitting in his parked vehicle, using his cell phone, when two suspects approached the car. One of the suspects pointed a gun at the victim and as the second armed suspect entered the car via the passenger side door and pressed the barrel of his gun to the victim’s side. The victim was told not to move as both suspects went through his pockets, removing his valuables. Both suspects then fled on foot. This incident is under investigation. (SFPD Case No. 160649461)
