Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the fallen and injured members of the Baton Rouge Police Department, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, and the Dallas law enforcement community.  We are deeply saddened and disturbed by these and other recent attacks against law enforcement officers.  In the wake of these senseless tragedies, San Francisco Police Department remains committed to building stronger bonds between law enforcement officers and the communities we are proud to serve as we remain vigilant in our resolve to continue to protect and serve the people of San Francisco.


 Shots Fired – Missouri / 22nd – 7/11/16, 2:07 am

Officers were in the area conducting an investigation into a separate incident when gunfire rang out and one of the officers heard the sounds of projectiles past him. No officers were hit or injured as a result of the shooting. (SFPD Case No. 160558583)


 Firearm Arrest – 3rd / Palou– 7/12/16, 1:10 pm

Officers approached a vehicle illegally parked in a handicap zone and contacted its occupants. They smelled a strong odor of marijuana from the car and detained the subjects as they searched the vehicle for the drugs. They found four bags of marijuana (over 95 grams), a digital scale, as well as a loaded .40 caliber pistol with an obliterated serial number under the passenger seat. The occupant of the passenger seat, a convicted felon prohibited from possessing weapons, was arrested and booked on the narcotics and firearms charges. (SFPD Case No. 160562813)


 Threats with Knife Arrest– 900 block DeHaro – 7/14/16, 9:30 am

Officers responded to a call of a subject brandishing a knife and threatening people. They met with one victim who stated that he was sweeping outside of his home when he asked the suspect to get off his planter and move along. The suspect pulled out a knife and threatened the victim with it before walking away. He then approached a second victim around the corner and threatened him with the knife as well. The officers located the suspect and placed him under arrest after he was positively identified. He was booked on multiple charges including assault. No injuries were reported asa result of this incident. (SFPD Case No. 160568253)


 Armed Robbery, Firearm Arrest– Northridge / Ingalls– 7/14/16, 6:13 pm

Officers were notified that a suspect in a home invasion robbery that had occurred in Daly City had been identified and was believed to be in a vehicle in the area of Northridge and Ingalls. The officers responded to the location, found the car and located two suspects inside. DCPD responded and arrested the suspects. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded .40 caliber handgun that was believed to have been used during the robbery. DCPD took custody of the suspects and weapon.  (SFPD Case No. 160569803)


 Shooting, Firearm Arrest– 1400 block Mendell – 7/15/16, 3:40 pm

Officers responded on a call of a shooting and located a 65 year old victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound to his ankle, sitting on a bench inside Mendell Plaza. He told the officers that he was seated on the bench when he heard several shots ring out and realized that he had been hit. The victim was transported to SFGH for treatment. A second 19 year old victim from the same incident had a passerby drive him to SFGH after having been hit in his arm by the gunfire. Through their investigation, officers were able to identify a possible suspect and a vehicle possibly involved. The suspect was located on the 4800 block of 3rd and the vehicle was found on the 1500 block of UnderwoodA .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun was found in the car. The suspect was arrested and booked on weapons charges with additional charges pending. (SFPD Case No. 160571814)


Stabbing– Ingalls / Harbor – 7/15/16, 5:00 pm

Officers responded to SFGH regarding a victim of a stabbing. They met with the 36 year old victim who told them that he was stabbed by a suspect the day prior after purchasing marijuana from him. The victim stated the two argued over the denomination of the currency that was exchanged. The two began a physical altercation at which point the suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the side before fleeing on foot. This incident is under investigation. Firearm Arrest– Connecticut / 20th – 7/16/16, 3:00 pm

Officers patrolling the Potrero Hill Housing Development spotted a subject, who they knew to be an active Zoo Block gang member and also in active felony probation with a search condition, standing at the bus stop. The suspect matched the description provided in a series of auto burglaries so the officers decided to conduct an investigation. The suspect ran off as soon as they approached him and advised that they would be conducting a probation check. He apprehended and searched. A loaded 9mm handgun was found in his backpack. The suspect, a convicted felon prohibited from possessing weapons, was booked on weapons and probation violation charges. (SFPD Case No. 160574250)


 Robbery– Newhall / Carroll – 7/16/16, 10:45 pm

A 24 year old victim was taking photos on the street when a car pulled up with three suspects. The suspects got out and attacked the victim, knocking him to the ground. One of the suspects removed the boots he was wearing and stole them. All three got back into the vehicle which then drove from the scene. This incident is under investigation.  Firearm Arrest– 600 block Cesar Chavez – 7/16/16, 11:00 pm

Officers responded to a call of an armed suspect who was with a group of juveniles that had crashed a sweet 16 party in the area. The officers saw a large group of juvenile subjects walking from the scene. As the officers attempted to detain the group, one of the suspects ran off. A chase ensued during which time the suspect was seen throwing an item to the ground. After he was apprehended, the item was recovered and discovered to be a loaded .22 caliber pistol. The 15 year old suspect was arrested. Another 15 year old suspect that had been detained with the larger group told the officers that the gun actually belonged to him, not his friend who had ran off with it. Both suspects were arrested and booked at the Juvenile Justice Center on weapons charges.  (SFPD Case No. 160575418)


 Shooting– 900 block Connecticut – 7/17/16, 7:44 am

Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the Potrero Hill Housing Development and located multiple shell casings and a parked vehicle damaged by gunfire. According to witnesses, two suspects were seen standing together as one of then fired a handgun. The officers were alerted to the fact that four victims had arrived at SFGH. One of them, a 31 year old female, had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. The officers learned that the four victims were in a car that was driving in the area when the suspects began shooting at their car. The victim’s drove away at which point they realized that one of the occupants had been hit and drove her to SFGH. This incident is under investigation. (SFPD Case No. 160575775)


 Armed Robbery– 1400 block Shafter – 7/17/16, 10:30 pm

A 37 year old victim was walking on the sidewalk when he noticed that four subjects appeared to be following him. Two of the suspects attacked him and as he attempted to fight back, one of them produced a handgun which he pointed at the victim and ordered him to keep quiet. The victim, in fear for his life, complied. The suspects went through the victim’s pockets, removing his money, before fleeing the scene. This incident is under investigation.  Armed Robbery– Mansell / Hamilton – 7/18/16, 2:50 am

A 35 year old victim was sleeping in the reclined driver’s seat of his pared car as he waited for the start of his shift. He awoke to the sound of glass breaking and a hammer falling to the seat beside him. He looked up and saw a startled suspect. The suspect ran back to a car that was stopped behind the victim’s vehicle. He said something to the occupants of the car before getting in. The suspect vehicle drove up to the side of the victim’s vehicle and one of the suspects brandished a handgun at the victim, demanding his money. The victim handed over his wallet and the suspects drove from the scene. This incident is under investigation. (SFPD Case No. 160578042)


 Bayview Station holds community meetings with the Captain on the first Tuesday of each month. Due to National Night Out, the Aug. meeting will be held on a Wednesday
