December 15, 2014 Update

Hot Prowl Burglary:

On December 12th at 12:40 pm, a resident of the 100 block of Cambridge was in his bedroom, watching a movie on his laptop while wearing headphones, when a suspect suddenly burst into the room. The suspect expressed shock at seeing the victim inside and immediately retreated. The victim ran after the suspect and saw him run out of the front door, followed by a second suspect who had been in the living room. The victim continued to chase the two suspects outside for a short distance before returning and calling the police. The arriving officers found that another bedroom in the house had been ransacked. Crime Scene Investigations responded to the location for evidence collection. The officers searched the area for the suspects but were unable to locate them day. This incident is under investigation.  (SFPD Case No. 141044866)


Auto Theft Arrest:

On December 12th at 8:13 pm, officers patrolling in the area of the Potrero Hill Housing Development stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on the unit block of Dakota. A record check revealed that the vehicle had been reported as stolen. The driver was placed under arrest without incident. A master vehicle key (commonly used for vehicle access by auto thieves) was found under the driver’s seat of the stolen car. The suspect, already on active probation, was booked at Bayview Station on auto theft charges. (SFPD Case No. 141033198)


Shots Fired:

On December 12th at 9:30 pm, officers responded to the 1500 block of Shafter on a call of shots fired. They found multiple shell casings in the street mid block and several parked vehicles that had sustained gunshot damage. A house in the area had also been damaged by a bullet. The officers secured the scene and evidence. They searched for possible victims and additional damage but were unable to locate any. There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident, which is under investigation. (SFPD Case No. 141046395)



On December 13th at 12:30 am, officers responded to the unit block of Cameron on a report of a shooting. On arrival, they were approached by a 16 year old male victim who stated that he had been shot. The victim had bullet two graze wounds and was transported to SFGH where he was treated for his non-life threatening injuries. The officers secured the crime scene and preserved all evidence and witness statements. This incident is under investigation. (SFPD Case No. 141046709)


Firearm Arrest:

On December 13th at 8:00 pm, officers patrolling in the area of Shafter and Keith noticed a group of subjects loitering on the 1400 block of Shafter besides a parked car. The officers recognized the vehicle as having been involved in a shots fired incident the day prior. They also recognized several off the subjects from previous contacts and knew them to be active gang members. The officers got out of their vehicle and approached the group. Two suspects, one a known probationer with an active search condition, broke from their associates and began to flee. The officers gave chase. The probationer discarded a firearm as he ran. The loaded 9mm pistol with an obliterated serial number was recovered and secured. The suspect was apprehended and taken into custody. He was booked on multiple weapons and probation violation charges at Bayview Station.   (SFPD Case No. 141048749)
