November 17, 2014 Update

Robbery Arrest:

On November 14th at 1:37 pm, two victims, ages 57 and 67, were robbed on Carolina and 23rd. They told the responding officers that they had been walking down the street when a suspect approached them and ordered them to give up their bags. Fearing for their safety, the victims surrendered their belongings. The suspect then ordered the victims to hand over their wallets and cell phones. The victims complied at which point the suspect told them to turn around and walk away. The victims did as they were told then used a passers-by phone to call the police. The officers searched the area and located the suspect getting out of a vehicle in the Potrero Hill Housing Development. They took him into custody at 25th and Connecticut after a foot chase where he was positively identified. The officers searched the area for his accomplice in the vehicle but were unable to locate him that day. The suspect, a parolee at large, was booked on robbery charges at Bayview Station. On November 15th at 3:00 pm, a 29 year old victim was robbed in the area of Northridge and Dormitory. He told the responding officers that he was working on his car with the hood up when a subject that he recognized from the neighborhood approached him. The suspect engaged in small talk with the victim regarding the problem with the car. The victim set his iPhone on the engine as he went inside the car to start the ignition. He then noticed the suspect pick the phone up. The victim told the suspect to give the phone back but the suspect refused. When the victim approached the suspect to try to take his phone back, the suspect punched and pushed him, then took off running. The officers searched the area for the suspect but were unable to locate him that day. This incident is under investigation.   (SFPD Case No. 140968576)


Auto Theft Arrest:

On November 15th at 4:00 pm, officers patrolling in the area of LaSalle and Newhall noticed a vehicle driving in the area that had a license plate number that appeared on the officers’ “hot sheet” (list of stolen cars or cars wanted in connection to felony crimes). The car drove past them and the driver parked it on Kirkwood and Phelps, got out, and attempted to leave the scene. The officers were able to catch up and detain the suspect without incident. After confirming that the vehicle was in fact stolen, the driver was placed under arrest and booked at Bayview Station on auto theft charges. (SFPD Case No. 140950006)


Shots Fired:

On November 15th at 8:40 pm, officers responded to a home on the 1200 block of Palou on a call of shots fired. They met with the residents who stated that they were asleep in their bedroom when a bullet came through their wall from the front of the house. The round became lodged in the opposite wall of the bedroom. Neither resident was injured. The officers located a parked vehicle outside of the home that had also been damaged by gunfire. They collected multiple spent casings on the street of the 1100 block of Palou. No other injuries or damage were reported as a result of this incident which is under investigation.  (SFPD Case No. 140969621)


Firearm Arrest:

On November 16th at 11:30 am, officers responded to the area of Ingalls and Keith on a call of an armed suspect. They located a subject who matched the description provided standing in a doorway on the 600 block of Keith. When the officers got out of the car and approached the suspect, he dropped the backpack he was holding and took off running. The officers gave chase and apprehended the suspect on Evans at Keith. The backpack that the suspect discarded was recovered and a loaded 9mm handgun was found inside. The suspect, a convicted felon prohibited from possessing weapons, was booked on weapons violations at Bayview Station. (SFPD Case No. 140971024)


Auto Theft Arrest:

On November 16th at 3:30 pm, officers responded to a call of a subject inside of a vehicle that appeared unconscious on the 100 block of Bacon. They located the car with the person in question in the passenger seat and a suspect standing outside of the open passenger door, attempting to rouse her. The suspect had vehicle keys in his hand and stated that the car was his. The officers woke the sleeping woman in the car and found that she was okay and did not need assistance. A record check of the vehicle revealed that it had been reported as stolen. The officers arrested the suspect and on closer inspection of his car key, discovered that it was shaved (commonly used for auto theft). The suspect was booked on auto theft and possession of burglary tools charges at Bayview Station. (SFPD Case No. 140961473)
